Paper Mario is fun, innovative, and was revolutionary for mario rpgs and if they wouldn't have changed the game play in the newest paper mario the series would still be good. The story progression is great, because when its not serious it is absolutely hilarious and is so fun to play and I wouldn't care to play it over and over again. If you haven't played this or any of the others I recommend this or the second for your first game to play. By the second I mean ( Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door ). Whatever you do, don't rate the series on the latest paper mario ( Super Paper Mario ), because its totally different from this one and the second.
This is a super fun game no matter how old you are.For Mario fans its a no brainer but for every one else, think back to the old days.Did the old Super Mario Bros have blood, gore, guns, and stuff in it, NO! You still like it didn't you , well let me assure you this game is PLAIN FUN! Okay this is an RPG, and it has RPG turn based battles, and lots of reading.Thats for anyone who is turned off by that stuff.Every one else please follow me.Ok it has that stuff in it, but it doesnt contain the kinda crap that makes you feel like a weirdo, like the final fantasy games. The dialog is often simple but fun.The battles are actually fun and don't make you feel like your working to beat the game which a game should not do.They are fun and even have an impressive depth to them.You can add badges to mario that boost his hp,fp, and give him special attacks, next you get a bud to battle with you that you can switch out if you might need another buds moves. Sound boring well let me compare, >> Final Fantasy game+ Typical battle+ " YOU" VS "Some unkown wierd creature"+++ You select fight and run up and kill the monster ++ Repeat Multiple times. .PAPER MARIO BATTLE SYSTEM++ "YOU" VS " 2 KOOPAS, one on the ground and one flying, You select jump on the flying one and knock it out of the air, and get an extra jump if you hit the A button at the right time.Next you send in your bomb girl bud, " You select explode, on the one that was already on the ground and tap A as fast as you can to get the maximum explosion continue till you beat em, "End of example". Yes theres that much more to it. If your low on HP you can try to avoid battles which isnt to hard but every now and then one might sneak into you. This game is a RPG but also has some platforming, and puzzles involved too, and I think its a combination of all the elements it so well puts together and makes them work very smoothly together, that makes this game so...so...FUN!
